On Saturday, March 20 at 12:32 PM (just after noon), we celebrated the Spring Equinox (in the northern hemisphere). For Christians, Easter is celebrated on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the spring equinox. In some ancient cultures, Spring began the new year, when Earth provided many new “starts,” those new spring-green shoots promised wholesome food to come, after the long barren winter.

VERNAL EQUINOX

Spring ahead, Earthlings!
equinox
When things seem to grind to a halt, life seems to say, “Get a move on!” When our calendars and our lives are overflowing, life says, “Time out!” When there’s too much or not enough, Earth self-corrects for balance, symmetry and equilibrium. Twice a year, Spring and Fall, the Sun crosses right over the equator; night and day are about equal in length all over the world.

We have a “warm welcome” for the first days of better weather when we venture forth without the multi-layers of hat, mittens, boots, scarves, coats, etc. And we experience a new-found, renewed freedom in another way.  Balance may be what we say we seek in our lives.  Yet balance is static, stagnant & inert. We realize the bliss of such a still point . . . and then we move.  It takes just a little tilt one way or the other and we’re on our way again.  So, put a SPRING in your step!
