What are you doing with your Greed ?
GREED … one of the seven deadly sins in Christianity; one of the three poisons in Buddhism. Where does our greed come from? Does it get in the way of our happiness and that of others? What does greed have to teach us?
Presenters:
David Ahmann works as an independent financial advisor to individuals and businesses. For over twenty years he has been helping people reach their financial goals. He graduated from the UW with degrees in History and Education and received a Masters Degree from Pepperdine University. His life is enriched as father to three teenage children. Dave is a serious student of
meditative paths.
Paula Hirschboeck is a Zen Buddhist Chaplain, a spiritual director and a Professor of Philosophy at Edgewood College. She is a long time student and teacher of meditative practices from various spiritual traditions. Paula offers retreats and workshops on interfaith spirituality in the midwest.
The Plan of the Evening:
Our presenters will offer insights on how the current financial hard times exploit our insecurities and trigger greed. Greed cannot be eliminated; it is part of our basic survival instinct. But our response to greed can be observed, understood and transformed. Together we will
* Hear real life reports from the trenches where greed has resulted in suffering
* Consider how greed not only harms individuals but also society and the planet
* Learn and practice interfaith ways to transform our greed and let go of fear
* Share some supportive dialogue
