Programs and Services

Maureen offers individual spiritual guidance to women and men of various faiths, ages, and orientations

She will help plan and coordinate "Busy Persons Retreats" for church communities, small groups of friends or colleagues, faith-sharing groups, or those with other kinds of connections to each other.  The purpose of these is to integrate one's spirituality more fully with one's everyday life.  The length of these retreats can be 3-5 days.  Essential elements are individual and group prayer, opening and closing rituals, and at least one 1-1 meeting with a spiritual guide of one's choice from among the retreat staff members.

She will coordinate regular small group meetings of interested persons, using the resource called Bridges to Contemplative Living with Thomas Merton.  The eight booklets of this series each offer an introduction to Merton and contemplative living, prayers, readings from Merton and other spiritual writers, and questions for contemplative dialogue.
A sampling of the themes express Merton's vision of spirituality as lived experience:
Becoming Who You Already Are
Living Your Deepest Desires,
Adjusting Your Life's Vision
Seeing That Paradise Begins Now

Meetings last 1.5 hours and can be scheduled during weekday afternoons or evenings, usually meeting every 2-3 weeks for the eight sessions in each booklet.  The next gathering will convene in early September, 2009.
