A doctoral student in the Literacy Studies program in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at UW-Madison, her research interests focus on immigrant families, especially Muslim families, literacy development of Muslim children in public schools and Islamic education in the U.S. She is also interested in notions of identity among Muslim youth. She is active in organizing local Muslim communities in the U.S. and encouraging dialogue among the various communities of faith.
